Training

On February 12, 2003, NVLP hosted a training session for the students involved in the Dunbar Alumni Federation Oral History Project at our headquarters in Washington DC. The training focused on two areas – video production, and interviewing skills. The students spent the morning in a video production workshop learning the skills needed to document the stories of their chosen Elders.

The students were then split up into 2-person teams and sent to different locations in our building to practice what they had learned. Each student was responsible for setting up their own equipment package and interviewing each other.

In addition to the training they received at NVLP, the Dunbar Alumni Federation spent time with the group, educating them in the areas of oral history and research to prepare them to conduct their interviews with the elders from the Federation.

The student teams conducted their interviews at NVLP Headquarters on March 22, 2003.
