We want to provide you with an opportunity to become involved with our extraordinary organization through our annual fund to support NVLP's series of programs uniquely designed to transfer knowledge across generations, including:

Oral History Interviews

• Extensive videotaped oral history interviews with our Visionaries, accessible at www.visionaryproject.org and archived at The Library of Congress American Folklife Center.

Education

• The Visionary Heritage Fellows Program which trains college students to record and document the oral histories of Visionaries in their local communities.

• Production of multimedia lesson plans built upon national education standards and featuring NVLP interviews.

Intergenerational

• The Intergenerational Summit on the State of Black America, a discussion of contemporary issues between honored Visionaries - distinguished in the humanities, arts and sciences - and a student audience.

• The NVLP High School Essay Contest, in which students compete by writing an essay about one of NVLP’s Visionaries. Winning students/schools receive a visit with one of NVLP’s Visionaries.

• Intergenerational Roundtable Discussions; topical live webcast forums featuring nationally known Visionaries.

• The Wisdom Awards Celebration honoring Visionaries
distinguished in the Performing Arts with tribute performances by young protégés.

Community Outreach

• NVLP's “Legacy Guide" created for African American community groups to help them with the process of recording their own elders' life histories.
